Business Cartoons for a Law Firm

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

recovery-1Law firms are great referrals for me since they often times put out many articles and newsletters giving clients and potential clients updated information.  During economic times like these law firms are making moves to get their clients prepared for the lean times.  Newsletters are a great way to broadcast your knowledge to your clients.

Buchalter Nemer is one such law firm that needed a custom cartoon for their newsletter.  The articles had a flavor of what Buchalter Nemer can do for their clients during these uncertain times.

Sign my boss found in SF

Sign my boss found in SF

Couple other things I like about this sign is the “Closed sign” in the window.  Also during a bad economy I’m not sure why people aren’t buying bamboo.  I hope the sign company that made this sign got paid up front or at least paid in Bamboo.

Making the Light Bulb Cartoon

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

A light came on upstairs so to speak with this cartoon that has quickly become one of my favorites.  I can always tell when I like a particular cartoon because I spend twice as long making the cartoon as I do any of the others.  Also after the cartoon is made I quickly make it my wall paper on my computer screen, I made it my profile picture on my Facebook profile and I scan in my pencil and sketch book drawings to show off in my blog.

Right now what I like most about this cartoon is that it reminds me about how much unrest there is in this country right now.  With the economy going to the pits and everybody hating each other politically, it seems like no one is looking to the light at the end of the tunnel.  I can’t watch the news anymore since it depresses me and I can’t go ten feet down the street in San Francisco without seeing a newspaper headline about the end of the world.  Maybe the light did burn out at the end of the tunnel?

So my cartoon simply explains that we have a crew working on fixing the light so in the meantime we should take a deep breath and wait for it to turn back on.  When I first thought of this cartoon my first thought would be to make the light at the end of the tunnel be a “spot light” like the ones you see at grand openings and shows with a lot of pomp and circumstance.  But I later realized that (more…)

The front cover of Buchalter Nemer quarterly newsletter.

The front cover of Buchalter Nemer quarterly newsletter.

Rackafracka has found its way to the front page of Buchalter Nemers’ quarterly newsletter, Points & Authorities, and here is the latest version.  They contacted me and wanted a custom cartoon that could go with a theme that the newsletter would have.  The topic being that during this time of economic uncertainty a company can count on Buchalter Nemer to see you through it.  Being a full service law firm they can take care of anything that a company could go through during this economic melt down.

Anyway I was happy to approach this topic and it wasn’t that hard since this sort of topic reaches everyone.  My client is the one who said belt tightening over the phone and that is all I needed to hear.  I came up with the idea for this cartoon almost instantly.

Using cartoons in newsletter, direct mail, greeting cards are a good way to reach your clients and potential customers since the cartoon is easy to read, fun to look at and it adds a great way to illustrate your point to those who may not understand right away.  Another benefit is that if your reader likes the cartoon enough they will keep a hold of the publication and hang it in their office, or show their friends.  This can cause viral marketing that is the most popular way to spread the word about your company or message these days. I’ve been doing custom cartoons for several years now and can help you even write the joke.  Just tell me what the topic is going to be and I’ll do the rest.  Tell your boss or your marketing department to use Rackafracka in their next newsletter.

BTW, for you Fracka Fans out there who noticed the cartoon on the front page of the newsletter is smashed a little, I want to tell you that that is how they printed the newsletter and I’m not bitter.  For the correct proportion check it out here.
