Reason #10- Cartoons are Colorful

This might seem like a dumb reason but you need to consider the project as a whole.  Let’s say you are writing a email newsletter.  Granted there are many editing tools that allow you to create a custom email with special formatting and colorful text.  And now with email services like Constant Contact and MailChimp there are even templates to choose from to spice up your email.  But this is my point.  If you need templates to make your email more interesting than this just proves my point that a colorful cartoon will have more impact than just a plain text email with no visuals.

Think about Zappos.com or Amazon.com.  Would you buy shoes or a book online if you didn’t see a visual of them first?  You might buy a book but I would argue that seeing the cover plays a major role into if you buy one book over another.  If you saw a book with “no photo available” next to the title you might start to wonder who wrote this book?  Who is so cheap or lazy that they would not put a simple picture or thumbnail of the cover next to the title.  If they are this lazy with the thumbnail then they probably took short cuts on the printing, binding and writing of this book.  The same can be said with shoes.  Now I’ve actually don’t recall ever seeing a shoe product on Zappos that didn’t have several photos, but I know that you would not want to buy unseen because what shoes up the next day from UPS just might be clogs or something.  The point is that your clients and customers will buy what you are selling if you treat them to something visual to go along with your message.  So why not use a color cartoon.

Cartoons along with a nice template design from your email marketing provider can make your email stand out from the hundreds of emails your clients are getting already.  Your emails will look thought out and professional.  A color cartoon with a snappy punchline or story that matches the message you are trying to send to your customer will make a bigger impact than plain old text.  Color can set the mood, or the tone to an email.  If your message is somber than the colors should not look like you painted your email with a finger paint from a kindergarten class.  If you message is happy then you should not color your cartoon like a film noir movie.

So I say add some color to your email marketing.  Make your emails memorable and worth reading.  Add color cartoons into your marketing for a better reader experience.
